Television programs about gastronomy are more fashionable than ever and many celebrities are joining this trend. One of the latest has been Eva Longoria who has just premiered ‘Searching for Mexico’, a gastronomic travel program in which she discovers Mexico through its rich cuisine. Composed of 6 chapters, in each one the actress will visit a different region of the country to show all the tourist gems, its picturesque landscapes, cultural peculiarities, or its rich history, while devouring the excellent gastronomy of each area. The program can be seen On Demand through CNN’s platform.

From Mexico City to Veracruz: Longoria eats Mexico

Throughout the six episodes, Eva Longoria will visit regions such as Mexico City, Yucatan, Oaxaca, Nuevo Leon, Jalisco and Veracruz. In the first episode, premiered on March 26, the actress was in the Mexican capital, one of the largest North American cities. Together with food writer Gabriela Rentería, she stars in a fun taco marathon. Among Longoria’s activities in Mexico City, she can be seen in the trajineras of Xochimilco, together with Lalo García, one of the most prestigious chefs in the country. Also in the Zócalo of the historic center or eating chocolate with churros with her son Santi.

Eva Longoria was born in Texas, but she is of Mexican and Spanish descent and is married to Mexican businessman Pepe Bastón. She has been living in Mexico City for some time and, for that reason, with this program she wanted to show that Mexican gastronomy is much more than tacos and tequila, as she stated in CNN. On the other hand, food has always been a point of connection with his family, so he saw it as the best thread to show all the ins and outs of a country like Mexico, whose gastronomy was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Of all the regions shown in the program, Longoria’s favorite was Veracruz, which is known as “the port of spices” because, historically, due to its location (east of the country) everything entered the Americas through this region.

Among the gastronomic personalities that will appear on the program are chefs of the stature of Roberto Solís, creator of the New Yucatecan Cuisine; Alejandro Ruiz of Casa Oaxaca restaurant, standard bearer of Oaxacan cuisine; chef Celia Florian of Las Quince Letras restaurant; the Rivera Rio brothers of restaurante Koli in Monterrey; chef Fabián Delgado, of Café Pa’l Real in Guadalajara; and chef Erik Guerrero Arias, who promotes the Veracruz fishing industry, encouraging sustainability and expanding the range of consumable fish species.

Each week a new episode of a program that has all the ingredients to become one of the foodie phenomena of the season will be released: Mexican cuisine, beautiful landscapes and a master of ceremonies who gives her all to show all the secrets of the rich culture of the country.
