The famous natural juice brand Pressed Juicery wanted to highlight the creativity and talent of the black community with an exclusive collection illustrated by three black artists. The brand selected artists whose work reflects the spirit of its initiative, bringing different perspectives on heritage, resilience and empowerment.
The art series includes ‘Greens 3’ by abstract artist Sydneé Bethel, ‘Citrus 2’ by figurative painter Cortney Herron, and ‘Roots 3’ juice by multidisciplinary artist Julian Jamaal Jones.

Symbology of designs
Sydneé Bethel wanted to explain the background of her design: ‘It is a remembrance of the past and a prayer for the present. It is humanity vibrating on the frequency of God’s love. I believe that our differences are beautiful and necessary. It is our individual cultures that make the world so colourful and vibrant’.
Meanwhile, Cortney Herron describes her work, ‘Bloom’, as having ‘a bold, earthy energy’. ‘Growing up in Los Angeles, I developed a deep connection to nature, which continues to shape the way I use colour, texture and form, creating work that feels both grounded and ethereal,’ she adds.

‘My ‘Soul In Spectrum’ design is inspired by the rich and complex history of black culture, especially the way colour, music and storytelling intertwine to create a vibrant tapestry of identity,’ says Julian Jones. ‘I wanted to capture the essence of joy, resilience and heritage through bold hues and abstract forms, reflecting how black artists have historically used colour as a form of expression and empowerment.’
Beyond the artwork, Pressed will donate part of the proceeds to Our Own, a non-profit organisation dedicated to expanding access to health, wellness and education in black communities.
Pressed Juicery’s Black History Month collection is available online and in all Pressed Juicery shops until 28 February.
