The most controversial chef on television starred in one of the most echoed gastronomic memes on the Internet. And that was the precise moment when he placed two slices of white bread over the ears of presenter Julie Chen Moonves, shouting at her: ‘What are you,’ to which Moonves replied: ‘An idiot sandwich’.

Now, Gordon Ramsay, will finally crown the personification of the ultimate ‘idiot sandwich’ in a new program he revealed to PEOPLE exclusively.

The show’s title ‘Idiot Sandwich‘ thus comes from that iconic sequence that Ramsay spoofed for James Corden‘s ‘The Late Late Show‘ in 2015, which racked up more than 13 million plays on YouTube, and ended up going viral on the internet as one of the great memes or parody skeches of his career.

Inside the show

The Michelin-starred chef shared details about the show on his Instagram profile, revealing that it will be shot in Las Vegas starting in November, hand-in-hand with an application form: ‘Are you an Idiot Sandwich? If so, can you prove it to me live,’ Ramsay commented in the clip, adding that ‘you don’t need to be a chef to apply’.

That same text detailed the perks of competing on the show: ‘The person whose sandwich impresses Chef Ramsay the most will win a cash prize and the ultimate title: being crowned Gordon Ramsay’s Idiot Sandwich!’

Ramsay‘s upcoming series will thus follow the celebrity chef on his mission to find the best sandwich, once again glimpsing his media power and that of internet meme culture.
