The future of cuisine is projected at Krasota, a fine dining restaurant in Dubai where they have resurrected the image of their late chef to continue his legacy in an automated way; while using AI in the creative and culinary processes to deploy high-calibre multi-sensory experiences.
Fantasy or science fiction becomes a reality at this venue where his culinary show is valued at an average of about $326. There, French chef Paul Bocuse explains the dishes without even existing on the physical plane. Instead, his image is projected onto the curved walls of the room to welcome you to his restaurant, and explain dishes such as his quail and foie gras wrapped in mushroom pâté and puff pastry; following his style reconfigured through technology.
It all adds up to an AI masterpiece that is also synchronised with its eight-course, multi-sensory dining experience entitled ‘Imaginary Futures‘. According to CNN, it is one that takes diners on a journey through different scenarios of what the future could be: from an undersea city to a space colony to a post-nuclear apocalypse, with each dish themed to its setting.
To create the whole imaginary restaurant, Krasota’s co-founders, digital artist Anton Nenashev, chef Vladimir Mukhin and entrepreneur Boris Zarkov thus handed over all control to technology. Nenashev is in charge of designing the projections with 3D computer graphics software, while Mukhin asked generative platform Midjourney to reimagine Bocuse’s most iconic recipes, including his signature V.G.E. truffle soup.
The creativity and attention of diners is then stimulated by this synergy of thoughts, ideas, art and imagination channelled through dynamic visual elements, multi-surface projections or its interactive table with AI that uses sensors to distinguish objects. All these elements merge into a single virtual menu to transcend the dining experience of the diner.
