Drew Barrymore teaches us how to prepare a protein breakfast in 5 minutes

On a recent episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, chef and co-host of The Kitchen, Geoffrey Zakarian, shared one of his favourite breakfasts, which is not only nutritious, but can be prepared in just five minutes or so. It’s 100% Drew Barrymore-approved Greek-inspired breakfast toast, and here’s how to make it.

After beating the eggs and adding them to a frying pan over medium heat, Barrymore squeezes lemon juice into a bowl with diced cucumber, red onion and avocado. While the eggs cook, the duo dress the vegetables with dill, parsley, salt, pepper and olive oil.

In the words of Kristin Wiig in Bridesmaids: ‘this is fresh’, Barrymore jokes after tasting the vegetables, of which she offers feedback: ‘this is so good; it’s so vibrant’.

Adding a dash of pepper to the eggs, the breakfast is ready for plating. But not before topping it with a toasted corn tortilla as a base, on which he places the eggs and vegetables on top of which he adds slices of radish, feta cheese and salt. ‘We have a beautiful breakfast, a beautiful lunch or a beautiful dinner,’ says the chef. ‘It’s amazing. I love it,’ the actress enthuses after tasting the creation.
