Forbes will celebrate its tenth anniversary on 30 and 31 March in another of the cities chosen for its special route. This time the stop will be in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, specifically at the Hotel Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel. On Friday 31st, the Forbes Master Class will take place with the participation, among others, of the political economist and writer Rosie Collington and Ángel Víctor Torres Pérez, President of the Canary Islands Government, will also be present. And as at Tapas we always like to add a gastro touch to any event, we have selected some of the best restaurants in the city so that you can complete this interesting experience with an unforgettable meal. Take note of these restaurants where you have to eat in Las Palmas!

Muxgo

Muxgo is the winner of the Golden T of Tapas Magazine in the Canary Islands, so it is one of the hotspots where you should eat. Borja Marrero, true to his principles, has set out to highlight the value of local produce. That is why a large part of the ingredients he uses in the cuisine of his restaurant Muxgo are produced on his farms and estates in Tejeda, the village where he was born, recognised as one of the most beautiful in Spain. Borja is also a farmer, a stockbreeder and understands that the produce must be given the love it deserves. Impeccable preparations, his menu includes an unprecedented cutting of the Canarian sheep that will surprise you, like his sheep foie gras.

Poemas by Hermanos Padrón

It is the restaurant located inside the Hotel Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel where the event is held. So there’s no excuse to try the signature cuisine, local and cosmopolitan, whose dishes showcase the simplicity, technique and innovation of the Padrón brothers and chef Icíar Pérez. With references to Canarian roots, but looking for the avant-garde, you can enjoy an immersive dining experience through its tasting menu or a la carte dishes full of flavour and quality.

El Santo

It is located in the historic centre of the city, in the heart of the Triana district. This restaurant serves creative cuisine by chef Alejandro Laureiro, who uses the best raw materials from the island to offer a unique gastronomic experience. The restaurant also has a striking aesthetic that combines the stone walls of the renovated building with suggestive tropical touches and colourful portraits.

Tabaiba

Just a few metres from Las Canteras beach, you will find this restaurant that is deeply rooted in the land, the Canarian roots and the local produce. They define themselves as “evolutionary Canarian cuisine” and the young chef Abraham Ortega defends the origins of the cuisine of the Islands, but gives it a transgressive touch, adapting to the avant-garde and making everyone who sits at his table sigh. They only work with a tasting menu where you will find goat, vieja, yam, mojo, limpets… Local produce plays an important role. This promising young islander is accompanied by Aser Martín and José Pérez in the dining room, a great team!

Vanguardista

Deliciosamarta

This cosy restaurant serves market cuisine with modern and Canarian touches. It has a small menu and all the dishes are delicious, such as the meat tartar with fries or the truffled gnocchi with parmesan. Everything is made with quality products and a lot of care. It is advisable to book well in advance, as they are usually full 2-3 months in advance. A good option for a meal in Las Palmas if you have time.

Hestia

Its name – goddess of the kitchen – says it all. You should definitely go to Hestia to enjoy its tasting menu like a goddess, which offers a good overview of the cuisine of Juan Santiago, one of the promising young Canarian chefs who has already made a name for himself among the top options in the capital of Gran Canaria. If you opt for the à la carte menu, it is important to leave room for a selection of cheeses for dessert – or pre-dessert. Beautiful premises with an open kitchen where attention to detail is taken care of.

Casa Brito

This traditional restaurant has been open since 1998, when it was started by José González Brito. Since then, he personally chooses the quality beef, lamb and sirloin steaks to be grilled on the establishment’s wood-fired grill. They also serve fresh fish such as cod, and hams, cheeses and other delicacies. If there is one thing that stands out, it is the excellence of the product. One of the places where you must eat if you visit Las Palmas (and very close to the city).
