If you’re in sync with new trends or social fads on the internet, you’ve probably heard of coffee parties or coffee raves. But what exactly do they consist of and why might they replace classic alcoholic parties in the future?
The stimulating basis of these new parties comes from the rise of mocktails and/or mock cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks as healthy alternatives introduced to the scene by the younger generation. It is a liquid trend that emerged in the aftermath of the pandemic as a collective response to the negative effects they can have on mental health, among other factors.

This general desire for healthier beverages combines with society’s growing interest in speciality coffee culture to elevate it to a new frequency in coffee shops, which are now transforming their spaces into lanes for healthier parties, without the need to bathe them in alcohol.
The only stimulating elements that come into play at coffee raves are their caffeine drinks and their music: an infallible combination that can be enjoyed in daylight, which has gone viral all over the world. From Los Angeles to Copenhagen, London or Mexico, coffee parties are now coming to Madrid with sessions at key coffee shops like Santanera Coffee or CAFÉ MADRID, parties that have even replaced coffee or derived from another of this generation’s favourite drinks: matcha.
The phenomenon has also reached Manolo Bakes, which will hold its first coffee party on 24 April at its store in Plaza Santa Bárbara. Attendees will be able to dance to mocktails designed for the occasion such as an orange espresso, a caffee tonic or a hazelnut coffee along with an open bar of manolitos and palmitas combined with a DJ set by Miqui Brightside.
In this type of abstemious party, the café or the space where it is held becomes the dance floor where the raveros drink espressos or ristrettos to the rhythm of the music, especially electronic beats. So, if you are one of those who are looking to give up alcohol or simply go out without getting sleepy, this is the party for you.
