Spain has become one of the most powerful markets for the French group, which in 2023 announced the acquisition of 47 supermarkets from El Corte Inglés, which is expected to close in the first half of 2024. In fact, our country was also the third largest growth experienced by Carrefour in Europe, behind only Romania and Belgium.

During the presentation of the report, Alexandre Bompard, CEO of Carrefour, stated that in 2023 “Carrefour confirmed the strength of its model, in an environment marked by high inflation in Europe, and continued to improve its economic performance. These results are the result of hard work and exceptional day-to-day performance. Commitment from Carrefour’s teams and franchisee partners. They confirm the relevance of the Carrefour 2026 plan, the effects of which are already noticeable, with strong momentum in private label and e-commerce sales and strong cost discipline. Carrefour faces this new year with confidence and continues on its path towards the goals set for 2026,” he concluded.
