The culinary collective behind temples of Italian gastronomy and ‘dolce vita’ such as Bel Mondo, Villa Capri, Jacuzzi or Circo Popolare, will open what is Big Mamma‘s first restaurant in Barcelona. Under the name Gloria, the new design venue will follow in the footsteps of the dazzling osteria in Milan that the group opened just over two years ago in the heart of the city. Like the latter, elegance will be represented in the space through the glamour and authenticity of homemade Italian cuisine.

Gloria Osteria -which will open its doors early on 4 April- will be set in 1970s Italy with a menu featuring dishes made with products from 170 Italian artisans. Its design represents an ode to Italy’s golden years, in connection with fashion, opulence and art on two floors decorated with 4-metre Murano chandeliers, large mirrored columns and Vertigo light sculptures by Jacopo Foggini. There will also be a charming, sunny terrace at street level.

The menu designed by executive chef Daniele Tasso will reinterpret the great Italian classics under his innovative approach; using quality ingredients such as fresh seasonal truffle direct from Piemonte, Salvatore Montrone’s juicy burrata pugliese or Paolo Gennari’s 22-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano DOP.

Tigrane Seydoux, founder of Big Mamma with his partner Victor Lugger, shared his enthusiasm for the opening: ‘We are very excited to come to Barcelona, not only to be part of its incredible and vibrant gastronomic community, but also to open our first Gloria restaurant in Spain. This osteria is a tribute to the Italian glamour of the 70s, a place where the charm of la dolce vita comes alive in every corner’.
