Ben Affleck opens a new chapter in the Dunkin’ Donuts universe, kicking off 2024 with an ad for the chain with which he has had a deep connection for a number of years. Specifically, since paparazzi images were released in 2020 that reflected his obsession with the chain.
It was an iconic series of photos that showed the actor carrying a cardboard cup holder full of large Dunkin’ iced coffees and a box of Munchkins while simultaneously trying to pick up a package. A comical moment, already a part of pop culture history, in which the situation results in the pack falling to the ground as Affleck looks at the cameras and walks home in embarrassment.
Affleck, who is arguably the most famous Dunkin’ consumer in the country, has collaborated with the coffee chain on several occasions. In early 2023, the actor even donned the uniform to work in the Dunkin’ drive-thru for a Super Bowl ad starring Jennifer Lopez.
Last September, the performer also teamed up with Ice Spice to promote their limited edition ‘Munchkins’ drink. Now, it’s time for a nostalgia-laden campaign for a 2020 comeback, and his Dunkin’ fumble.
On Wednesday Ben was seen like this on the set of the same advert with a precarious stack of boxes of doughnuts and iced coffee. And, just like in 2020, the Dunkin’ order ends up on the floor. In addition, the spot features a co-star who is none other than tiktoker Charli d’Amelio, who revealed in October that she was a ‘die-hard’ Dunkin’ fan, but didn’t even know who Ben Affleck was. The meme is now complete in this spot, as the most latent means of communication of our era.
