The actor intensifies his love affair with the doughnut chain in a clip aired during the 2024 Grammys in which he becomes a pop star with Charli D’Amelio.
The ad is presented in a sarcastic tone around Affleck‘s appearance at last year’s Grammys, which went viral for his sad facial expressions, which led to a proliferation of memes under the hashtag ‘Affleck sad’.
The ad opens with a news clip of Affleck and Lopez on a television screen. The headline reads: ‘The most boring man in the world’. Keep laughing,’ he says as he sips a Dunkin’ iced coffee.
In the next scene, Lopez is on the phone, continuing that line of humour with which to become a pop star, like a cathartic journey with many ups and downs.
Next, TikTok star Charli D’Amelio appears to help him with precisely that mission: to engage the audience through music and dance. After his unsuccessful training session, Affleck decides to encourage himself with a positive speech.
They tell you you’re no good. You’re an awkward, goofy, middle-aged, middle-aged white guy with no rhythm and you can’t sing. You have no coordination. Does that mean I can’t be a pop star?’ he exclaims. ‘You underestimate Boston? At your peril’.
In the middle of the motivational speech, Affleck is seen taking a bite of a giant chocolate-glazed doughnut with rainbow sprinkles. ‘This is me now,’ he says while sporting a giant necklace with a matching doughnut.
