After just over a month closed, the new Salmon Guru is back in style with the second edition of The Big Reunion, a May 19-22 event that will bring together six international bartenders to celebrate Mediterranean and Southern ways of drinking (and living). “It’s a festive moment for us. Bringing all these bars together takes a lot of effort, but we wanted to share it and what better time than now. We have the need to unite,” commented Diego Cabrera, the mind behind Salmon Guru.

Salmon Guru Reset

Although little has been seen of Salmon Guru for the moment, in this renewed stage, Salmon Guru returns with more maturity and that will be reflected in the concept of its menu, Reset. “In the best historical moment of Salmon Guru, seven years after the opening, when we could be calm, we questioned everything to reformulate it,” notes Cabrera. In addition to the part of refreshing, fruity, sours, sweet and crazy cocktails, it will also include a part of untouchables such as the Sprenger Tonic, the Old School Funny, the Ultramarine or the Chipotle Chillón, drinks that marked a specific moment of Salmon. Among the new proposals, a drink inspired by a taco al pastor, a Brazilian shake with carrot and chipotle, and a Fernet Cola with raspberry and balsamic vinegar stand out.

As for the works – the reason why it was closed in early April – the bar will continue to be divided into three parts: animal print, comic and Asian. But now everything will be taken to the extreme: drawings, neons, manga, bottles with snakes or a horizontal garden in an almost floating bar. In addition, the water will simulate being on the ceiling to feel inside the sea, in the habitat of the salmon. The design has been the responsibility of the Eme Carranza studio. As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, this reopening of Salmon Guru will take place during the second edition of The Big Reunion, which will turn Echegaray Street into the epicenter of global cocktails.

The Big Reunion – Mediterranean

On this occasion, the great event will bring together the best of Mediterranean cocktails, represented by 6 European bartenders, top exponents of mixology: Thanos Prunarus, from Baba au Rum (Athens), Jad Ballout, from Dead End Paradise (Beirut), Alex Frezza, from L’Antiquario (Naples), Emanuel Minez, from Red Frog (Lisboa), Dinos Constantinides, from Lost & Found (Chiprus), y Julien Escot, from Aperture (Montpellier). In addition, Viva Madrid, the other flagship of Diego Cabrera, will also participate.

“Together we are stronger. By all of us coming here we position ourselves as a city and make people go crazy about Madrid as an unbeatable platform,” emphasizes Diego Cabrera.

It is clear that Salmon Guru is back stronger than ever, making it clear why it has been named fifteenth in The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023.
