‘There were just a few hours left to ring the bell…. It has been a bittersweet ending… Sweet because no one suffered burns or anything physical… and sour to end in this way a season that had been so nice’, read the caption of the carousel of videos shared by the spanish temple of the sea on Instagram, in which you can see how the smoke invisibilizes the entire restaurant, while its ‘crew’ works quickly to reduce the impact caused by an electrical short circuit in the smoke extraction.’

‘Apologies to the clients who could not have the crossing on our boat. All well and healthy !!!!!…. already said my friend @andoniluisaduriz that creativity is fireproof. So we came ashore… We fixed the imperfections and kept sailing […] Thanks to the crew, thanks to the firefighters for putting out the fires in the engine room of this ship. We are very excited about cooking next season!!!’, continues the statement in which Leon refers to his friend Andoni, who wanted to answer in an emotional way: ‘For every shock, an illusion grows. The important thing is that you are all well. Lots of encouragement family @angel_leon_aponiente!

Despite the incident, from Aponiente they wanted to shed light on the event by launching a preview of what will happen next year: ‘It will be the season where Aponiente will finally be at sea … and that will be gastronomic history, so far I can read 😀’. In addition, they wanted to share another hopeful post with images of the restaurant, thanking all diners for their visit, despite that ‘unexpected end’ that has ended with their great farewell to the season; conceived as ‘one of the moments of the year, of immense joy, of communion between the crew and its visitors’.

‘THANK YOU to all our clients who knew how to be flexible and adapt to this event. We will not forget all your wishes: to recover, to come back stronger, to travel again to El Puerto to live with us a beautiful day. THANK YOU from all the crew,’ says the Aponiente team.
