The Academy of Gastronomy of Ibiza and Formentera has delivered this Monday, August 21, the gastronomic awards of 2022, which recognizes the professionalism and work in the field of restoration to different personalities and restaurants of the Pitiusas islands. This year, among the award winners have highlighted the chefs Paco Budia and Íñigo Rodríguez and the restaurants Nudo (which was also Tapas Magazine’s T de Oro award in 2022), S’Espartar and Sa Caleta. The event was attended by personalities such as Vicent Marí, President of the Consell d’Eivissa, Rafael Triguero, Mayor of Ibiza and Carmen Ferrer, Mayoress of Santa Eulalia.
The event took place at the Ebusus cultural center (on Paseo de Vara de Rey in Ibiza). Paco Budia, chef of Martín Berasategui’s prestigious Etxeko restaurant in Santa Eulalia, who was unable to attend today, received his award for gastronomic relevance, thanks to his culinary work in making the Ibiza restaurant an obligatory stop for both national and international gourmets. Carmen Matutes received the award.
For his part, another award-winning name was Íñigo Rodríguez. On this occasion, the executive chef of Mario Sandoval’s Ibizan restaurant Asal, has been awarded for his gastronomic innovation and has received the award for Best Chef of the Year.
S’Espartar, Nudo y Sa Caleta, also winners
As for the award-winning restaurants, S’Espartar stands out, which has won the award for Best Restaurant of the Year, thanks to becoming “one of the temples of traditional Ibizan gastronomy”.
For its part, Nudo – Tapas Magazine’s T de Oro award in 2022 – has become the revelation restaurant of 2022 by winning the award for Culinary Innovation, being “the surprise of this year in Ibiza”, as emphasized by the Academy.
Another of the restaurants that the Academy of Gastronomy of Ibiza and Formentera wanted to highlight was Sa Caleta. The academics wanted to highlight “the excellence in the service offered by Jordi Cardona in the restaurant Sa Caleta”. This family restaurant, of traditional seafood cuisine, is open all year round and is a clear example of tireless dedication to gastronomic excellence and authenticity.
Finally, the academy has recognized the “work of the primitive Fishermen’s Guild of Ibiza and Formentera, since a few decades ago divided into those of Ibiza, Sant Antoni and Formentera”, which is already a hundred years old. The Brotherhood offers a local product of the highest quality and sustainable fishing with the Mediterranean. On this occasion, the President of the Consell d’Eivissa, Vicent Marí, presented the award to the Cofradía.
