If there was a cult Christmas movie in the 90s, it was ‘Home Alone‘. A film that would go down forever in the history of cinema, and now, more than three decades later, revives in the new Uber Eats ad by the hand of Macaulay Culkin. The actor now reinterprets the character to satisfy all the needs of users, ranging from Christmas trees to Christmas carols.
In the spot, Culkin huddles in a festively decorated living room as he says, ‘I can’t remember the last time I had the house to myself for the vacations,’ a nod to his role as Kevin McCallister in the ’90s classic.
Next, the actor gets hungry and decides to order through Uber Eats, while the voiceover narrator narrates how the star uses the platform to satisfy her cravings; but is surprised to see what’s new in the app.
‘Over the holidays, I’ve been alone not once, not twice, but three times. But I’m not alone anymore,’ Culkin said in a press release, explaining that he hadn’t realized all the holiday deals the app was offering, and ended on a thank you note. ‘Thanks for just about everything, Uber.’
The American performer then realizes that the company will likewise deliver carolers, who arrive and sing ‘Jingle Bells’ at his door, while delivering his Uber Eats package. An actual experience that users were able to request last week. Now, however, the company will change the holiday experience by delivering Christmas trees and Christmas decorations instead of carolers.
