Many times we don’t see what lies beyond a success story, but behind it there is always a story of sacrifice, effort, perseverance, blind faith in oneself and sometimes, as in my case, a good dose of mental storm’, reveals the three times best chef in the world about the cathartic process he has had to go through throughout the 18 years of DiverXO’s history.
The documentary projects the unbridled ambition of the most punk chef on the scene, who bases his cuisine on eternal innovation; on the relentless pursuit of culinary subversion and perfection that has often pushed him to the limit.
This whole process, his thoughts and the history of the restaurant, is projected throughout five chapters in which a journey through Dabiz’s UniverXO is undertaken by the people who know him best, such as his partner Cristina Pedroche or his parents, in order to understand the sacrifices and dilemmas faced by one of the most brilliant minds in haute cuisine.
As can be seen in the trailer of the documentary, Muñoz asks himself in some of the scenes existential and labor questions about the future of his kitchen and the restaurant, through sentences like: ‘I don’t know if it’s time to close DiverXO’ or ‘I’ve been dedicated only to DiverXO for 18 years, and after 18 years I don’t know if that still makes so much sense or if I feel like changing my life focus’.
The series UniverXo Dabiz, produced by WelinkStudios, will debut on Netflix on December 20. ‘And I’m telling you, you’re not ready for this…’, Dabiz sentences.
