The show in which the actress ‘pretends to cook’ has emerged amidst the over-stimulation of online content as one of the internet’s great viral series. One that she has now decided to bring to the small screen alongside her mother, with whom she starred in one of her latest culinary episodes for the ‘Pretend Cooking Show‘ entitled ‘Grandmom Corn’. It’s the best thing to be here with my mum,’ Jennifer exclaimed effusively. ‘It’s the sweetest thing. I’m so proud of her and so happy we’re here together’.
There, host Kotb asked Pat if she taught Jennifer ‘everything she knows about cooking’. To which she replied: ‘Oh, my God, no. She’s a much better cook than I am. She’s a much better cook than I am.’ The Alias alum strongly disagreed, telling the presenters that Pat cooked for her every day when she was little.
The recipe
With the help of Carson Daly, they made Barbara’s Blackberry Cobbler for Kotb, Guthrie, Craig Melvin and Al Roker. The Garners explained that Barbara, Jennifer’s childhood best friend’s mother, had shared the recipe with Pat many years ago and still has it.
In order to make it, the first step is to buy the blackberries. Pat said that she used to pick them from her garden until they were blackberries. Jennifer then greased the pan with butter while Pat told Daly how much flour, sugar (1 cup each) and salt (1 teaspoon) to add to the bowl. The blackberries are then added to the greased pan and topped with lemon juice and ¼ teaspoon of almond extract.
To all that mixture, they added an egg to the flour and sugar mixture. Jennifer whipped some cream for the topping while Pat and Daly formed the crumble and spread it on top of the berries. The last step is to pour 6 ounces of melted butter over the dessert before putting it in the oven ‘until done’, Pat says.
