Here at Tapas we’ve compiled the best plans to make the most of the weekend in Barcelona and indulge in hedonism between cultural and gastronomic experiences, festivals, events and museums. Grab your diary and take note of our weekly proposal.

FRIDAY 14TH

Barcelona is once again the world epicentre of electronic music and cultural innovation with the 31st edition of the Sónar festival, which will bring together dance music pioneers, modern-day icons, techno stars and innovators from different eras, scenes and disciplines. On Friday we’ll start to experience it all.

Among the confirmed artists of the day, we will be able to enjoy shows and sets from iconic artists such as KAYTRANADA, La Goony Chonga, Laurent Garnier, AMORE, VTSS, Richie Hawtin, DJ Tennis or C.FRIM b2b BAMBII.

SATURDAY 15TH

On Saturday we’ll sunbathe and recharge our batteries on the beach of La Barceloneta, and then have lunch at one of the most aesthetically pleasing restaurants in the area. Specifically at Casa Costa, which recalls the mythical seaside beach bars through a modern version, decorated with works of art, where you can enjoy dishes and dishes ranging from classic tapas such as bravas or a well-made Russian salad, to more innovative ones such as fried prawns with fried egg or grilled fish of the day.

After extending the evening into the late afternoon, we will return to the Sónar venue -located at the Fira de Barcelona- to revive the festival mood, dance and sing until dawn with concerts by TOMMY CASH, Soto Asa, Floating Points, ABHIR, Project Area or The Martinez Brothers. In addition, we will also attend the SonarLab x Printworks stage at Sónar by Night, which will host the essence of the iconic British venue through a new format that will showcase the emblematic audiovisual production of Printworks London.

SUNDAY 16TH

On Sunday the party will be over, but the artistic and stimulating plans will continue. First of all, we’ll visit the Disseny Hub Barcelona museum, which houses the exhibition ‘Ex-Designer Project Bar‘ by Martí Guixé. A room-object produced entirely by 3D printing and with a digitally designed interior design that recreates a bar. It’s not just any bar: it’s the remains of an old bar that Martí Guixé designed and printed entirely with 3D technology, for almost 5 years in a place in Entença street in Barcelona, which closed as a result of confinement’.

Curated by Teresa Bastardes, head of collections at the Design Museum – DHub, ‘the Ex-Designer Project Bar’ also shows the production process of the bar (2015 – 2020), which was open to the public at the same time as it was being assembled, a performative action that transcends mere construction.

The dinner will be staged at Alapar Bcn: a restaurant inspired by the classic Japanese izakayas, with influences from Mediterranean cuisine and its products. This sort of ‘traditional bodega with an Asian vision’ is run by Jaume Marambio and Vicky Maccarone in a proposal that fuses Mediterranean and Japanese gastronomy; working the concept of seasonality to serve dishes such as their classic sea and Iberian bacon montadito, their gyozas of three sausages and broad beans or their pea stew with baby squid and katsuobushi.
