Surely anime lovers had already heard of WcDonald’s, the fictional version of McDonald’s in this universe. After years of appearing in this animated reality under that name, the most famous fast food franchise has decided to take it a step further and turn it into a 360 experience that will go from bringing it to reality with an immersive action in Los Angeles to launching an anime series based on WcDonald’s. To do so, it has created a special website.
The burger chain will flood some of its restaurants with the WcDonald’s universe through original sauces or packaging inspired by this action. On the gastro side, the company will launch for a limited time the new WcDonald’s Savory Chili sauce, which is a combination of ginger, garlic and soy with a slight spicy touch of chili flakes that provides an energetic explosion of flavor in every bite. This sauce pairs perfectly with WcNuggets (as fans call the chicken delicacies).
McDonald’s first anime series
In addition, the brand has collaborated with the iconic Japanese manga artist and illustrator Acky Bright, with whom they have designed a customized WcDonald’s packaging, inspired by the manga with the characters of WcDonald’s Crew. But that’s not all because the brand has decided to create its own anime fiction composed of four chapters. Thus, from February 26 to March 18, the network will be releasing a different episode about WcDonald’s Sauce and WcNuggets. To do so, it has partnered with the animation studio pierrot, creating the first official McDonald’s anime:
- The Race to WcDonald’s (available February 26): a rivalry strong enough to stand the test of time as our two heroes embark on an epic race to WcDonald’s.
- Love from Across the Booth (available March 4 ): Our two protagonists discover that WcDonald’s Sauce and WcNuggets aren’t the only perfect combination.
- WcNuggets Space Frontier 3000 (available March 11): A team of WcDonald’s pilots must protect the last WcNugget against a sinister force.
- The Wisdom of the Willow (available March 18 ): Three women are transported to a distant land to unravel the mystery surrounding the elusive sauce before it disappears forever.
An immersive gastronomic experience
Finally, McDonald’s has also prepared one more experience, inspired by the anime sub-genre of isekai anime, and will teleport fans to the first WcDonald’s IRL on March 9 and 10. This fully immersive experience in Los Angeles will include 360º projections, a menu with WcDonald’s items and more inspired by the anime series.
