We review the list of famous actors who are also hospitality entrepreneurs.

Although a priori the world of acting and the world of hospitality are two totally different sectors, they usually end up having great synergies. More and more actors are becoming interested in the kitchen, not only in the kitchen, but also in the business world. Some of them decide to start their own businesses or join forces with great chefs to open restaurants that end up becoming a success. The latest to join this list are Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Álex González, but there are many other actors who have also been bitten by the catering bug.

Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Álex González (Rhudo)

The media actors have been the latest to enter the world of hospitality with the restaurant Rhudo. And they have done so hand in hand with a great chef as is the chef Paco Roncero. In addition, soccer players Antoine Griezmann and Marcos Llorente have also joined the project. Rhudo is an ambitious project that has just opened its doors in the heart of Madrid’s Salamanca district. Roncero’s signature is already a sure value and this time it will merge Mediterranean and Latin cuisine in a tasty menu perfect for sharing in the middle of a minimalist design space designed by Archidom Studio.

Clara Lago (La Huerta Funky Castizo)

It is a 100% vegetable cocktail bar and restaurant, where you can enjoy anything from a saladadilla, salmorejo, leeks or migas, pizza or meatless tacos. The business is run by actress Clara Lago together with her partner José Lucena and a third partner, Víctor Pinacho. The latter two already had a restaurant, the older brother of the one they have set up with Lago, called ‘La Tuerta Funky Castizo’.

Antonio Banderas (Tercer acto and Doña Inés, among others)

Malaga’s most international actor owns several restaurants in his hometown. The first one is Tercer Acto, and its name already gives away the profession of its owner. It is located inside the Soho Theater in Malaga. It offers Mediterranean fusion food with Japanese gastronomy and signature cocktails. Banderas also owns the theater and other restaurants: Doña Inés, La barra de Doña Inés, Atrezzo, La Pérgola del Mediterráneo or El Pimpi. Some illustrious celebrities have passed through its tables, such as the chef Ferrán Adrià, the singer Pablo Alborán or the soccer player Gerard Piqué.

Ryan Gosling (Tangine)

The most desirable man on the planet also has his gastronomic weaknesses: Ryan Gosling is lost for the exoticism of Moroccan cuisine… and he even co-owns a restaurant in Beverly Hills. At Tagine, they promise an “intimate, relaxed dining experience that offers something different and memorable.” What will Gosling’s couscous and tagines taste like? Stars like Keanu Reeves and Meryl Streep have already tried them, and we’re looking forward to it.

Robert de Niro (Nobu)

It is a powerful gastronomic alliance between Robert De Niro and chef Nobu Matsuhisa, which began almost 30 years ago with the opening of the iconic Japanese restaurant Nobu in New York. Now they have hotels and luxury restaurants all over the world (in Spain they have in several locations such as Barcelona, San Sebastian, Ibiza, Formentera or Marbella), and continue to surprise the clientele with their fascinating elaborations, executed with the precision of a samurai.

Manu Baqueiro (La Tía Feli and Bar Decadente)

The unforgettable actor of Amar es para siempre owns a place called Decadente, located in the neighborhood of Las Letras. It is a casual Kitchen & Bar concept, which he shares with one of his partners, the actor Carles Francino. It is a rogue and elegant bet with an international and fun menu. He is also the owner of La Tía Feli, this time together with another actor, Aaron Guerrero (Chechu from ‘Médico de Familia’). This tavern has three locations in the capital (Chamberí, Ronda de Segovia and Chamartín). It has a traditional and urban vibe, with well-drawn beers, vermouth on tap and a selection of quality wines.

Leonardo DiCaprio (Neat Burger)

Leonardo DiCaprio teamed up with Lewis Hamilton -among other partners- to create a burger chain, mainly plant-based. They already have more than a dozen locations around the world, mainly in the UK. DiCaprio highlights Neat Burger’s pioneering approach “with respect to alternative proteins is a great example of the kind of solutions we need to move forward.” While Hamilton explains that the project was created “to make plant-based food more accessible to everyone, whether you always eat plant-based or just want to add it to your diet from time to time.” For his part,

Paco León (Crêperie La Rue)

A place in Madrid with a Parisian flair. This is La rue Creperie, which has been in business for eight years offering all kinds of crepes, with meat, fish, vegetarian, sweet,… And each of them with its own name, among which are hidden the names of their owners: the actors Paco León, Fele Martínez and Silvia Rey.

Channing Tatum (Saints and Sinners)

The magnetic city of New Orleans was chosen by actor Channing Tatum to set up this restaurant specializing in Cajun cuisine for saints and sinners where extremes meet. Because they incite temptation with their tasty dishes, but also help different charities. “Saints & Sinners is Tatum’s tribute to the city’s raunchy and fun reputation. Love thy neighbor and do good by being bad, that’s our motto.”

Carlos Cuevas (Lluritu)

The Merlí star is also a partner in a restaurant in Barcelona, together with actor Pau Roca, with whom he coincided in the TV3 series Ventdelplà more than 15 years ago. Cuevas joined Roca in this project, which is a casual seafood restaurant that, as defined by its partners, “throws shrimp heads on the floor”. Of course, putting a lot of focus on the quality of the product. They have two restaurants in Barcelona.
