Although its real origin is French, the croquette has been a staple of traditional Spanish cuisine for many years in taverns, bars and haute cuisine restaurants. Here is a compilation of the best Madrid tributes to this crunchy dish to enjoy on Croqueta Day.

Zielou

Chef Juan Sánchez stands out, among many other things, for his classic croquettes that he presents in this gastronomic oasis that challenges all the senses: the homemade croquettes filled with cecina from Valles del Esla and tender leek confit with crunchy parmesan, which will be available together with his new exclusive version from 15 to 21 January: the creamy carbonara croquettes with grilled guanciale and pecorino romano.

Pinzelada Lounge

In the designer restaurant of BLESS Hotel Madrid you will find one of the best interpretations of the croquette, created by chef Víctor Cuevas: the BLESStacular 5J ham croquette with Iberian veil. A delicious morsel, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, it is one of the must-try dishes on the Madrid scene.

La Sal del Mentidero

On the menu at La Sal del Mentidero they have a sublime iteration of the dish in question designed by Borja Anabiarte: the carabinero croquettes to combine with the rest of their iconic dishes with which to travel to Huelva from Madrid.

La Juana

In this gastronomic landmark near the Plaza Mayor, they serve their traditional version of this emblematic dish with a touch of the south: the creamy croquette of La Juana’s stew and the Croquetas de carabinero y alioli de azafrán y miel (prawn croquettes with saffron and honey aioli).

Ático

At The Principal Madrid‘s exclusive five-star restaurant you can celebrate Croqueta Day from the skies above Madrid. An exquisite and crunchy elaboration created by its chef José Luis Costa of acorn-fed Iberian ham that becomes the star of its updated traditional starters.

Mar Mía

In the emblematic Madrid restaurant co-directed by Carlos Bosch, Rafa Zafra and Luis Rodríguez (Casa Elías), you can order a delicious boletus and Iberian ham croquette that stands out for its sweetness, and for being absolutely irresistible.

Sessions

In the Sessions restaurant at the Hard Rock Madrid Hotel there are two dishes that shake up its gastronomic proposal in the purest American style: the original mac & cheese croquettes and the pulled pork croquettes with chimichurri, one of the best sellers on the menu in which the béchamel sauce combines perfectly with the tasty shredded pork and the Argentinean sauce.

Bodega de los Secretos

One of the best interpretations of the croquette is served at the tables of Bodega de los Secretos, the oldest bodega in the capital. This is their most popular version with acorn-fed Iberian ham, acclaimed for its creamy interior and crunchy exterior.

Terracotta

At Terracotta the croquette is presented as an elevated representation of gastronomic craftsmanship fused with Mediterranean produce. One of its greatest gastronomic hits: the Croquetas de Carabinero, Velo Ibérico y Alioli de Ajo Negro (Prawn Croquettes, Iberian Veil and Black Garlic Aioli) turned into an artisan masterpiece that captures the essence of the sea and the land in every bite.
