If you are one of those who need to drink flavored beverages, but at the same time do not want to overdo it with sodas with additives and gas, today we bring you a drink that will become a must. It is hibiscus water and it is very popular in Mexico. It is a fresh flavored water, made with hibiscus flowers, a plant that provides numerous benefits for our health, such as its antioxidant properties, helping to reduce bad cholesterol levels or its antihypertensive and cardioprotective properties, among others. If you have not yet tried the popular hibiscus water, here is the simple recipe. In addition, to make it totally healthy, you can do without sugar.
Hibiscus water recipe
Ingredients:
- 100 g dried hibiscus flowers
- 4 l of water
- 350 g sugar (you can do without sugar, if you want it to be healthy)
Preparation:
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and pour in the hibiscus flowers.
- When it starts to boil, let it simmer and boil lightly for about 5 minutes.
- Then add the sugar and stir to mix well.
- Remove from the heat and let cool for at least an hour and a half.
- Strain the liquid into a pitcher and add the remaining water until it is completely full, while stirring to distribute the liquid well.
- Put it in the refrigerator and, when you are going to serve it, add ice.
