This fish, which takes on and/or is inspired by the appearance of a salmon, is created using extrusion technology, which allows a 3D printer to integrate fats into a fibrous protein matrix.
It is an eco-futuristic action carried out by the Austrian food technology company Revo Foods, which has set a milestone by launching the first 3D printed food in a supermarket, specifically in the frozen section of BILLA supermarkets.
The innovative product, which will hit Revo Foods‘ online store on October 1, envisions an alternative to overfished seafood with latent undertones such as the serious risk of collapse of the ocean ecosystem or marine biodiversity.
Entitled ‘THE FILET‘, Revo’s salmon is the first 100% vegan fish fillet, and is packed with protein and nutrients: Omega-3, 9 essential amino acids and vitamins A, B2, B3, B6, B12 and D2, making it a true creative food revolution.
