Grupo Paraguas continues its unstoppable growth after almost 20 years of existence. If a few months ago the company of Marta Seco and Sandro Silva announced that they had acquired the Metrópolis building to convert it into a luxury hotel that will include different gastronomic spaces, now El Confidencial has just published exclusively the latest acquisition bombshell of entrepreneurs: nothing more and nothing less than the Palacete Fortuny, the historic building of the nineteenth century that for many decades has been a hotspot for the Madrid jet set.

As reported by the media, the owners of the Group bought at auction this mansion located at number 34 Fortuny Street, in the Almagro area.

Constantly reinventing themselves

Grupo Paraguas has become one of the most successful hospitality groups in our country. Since they opened their first restaurant, El Paraguas, in 2004, they have not stopped growing. One of its premises is to innovate constantly, which is why they have no two concepts alike in the capital of Madrid. Currently, in addition to the restaurant of Asturian cuisine, Grupo Paraguas has more restaurants in Madrid, all of them different, of course.

In 2011 they launched their second major project and opened Ten con Ten, already a benchmark. They were later joined by Ultramarinos Quintín (2015), the successful Amazónico and The Jungle Jazz Club (2016), the Italian Numa Pompilio (2017), and the most recent Aarde (2019) and Origen (2019).

In addition, they also took the international leap with the opening of new Amazónico locations in London and Dubai and more recently announced a new location: Monaco, where the restaurant will have the best views to enjoy the Formula 1. While waiting for the opening of the ambitious hotel project in the aforementioned Metropolis building, Marta and Sandro are taking a step further with the purchase of Fortuny, of which they are sure to reveal more details very soon.

This is Fortuny, the jet set’s place to be

The Palacete Fortuny is one of the most iconic buildings in Madrid located at 34 Fortuny Street. Built in the nineteenth century and French style, it is currently home to Fortuny Home Club, a place that reopened its doors in the spring of 2022 to return to be that place to be that once hosted the jet set of the capital.

In this new venture, Fortuny Home Club became a multidisciplinary establishment composed of four luxurious spaces: Benedetto Restaurant -a refined Italian restaurant-, Morris Club -a club named after William Morris, father of the Arts & Crafts movement-, Henriette Cocktail Bar -a signature cocktail bar- and also the covered terrace called La Cúpula Garden.

The place is totally inspired by the universe of the artist Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo and totally reminiscent of the unforgettable parties of the late 90’s where everyone wanted to be.
