A few days ago, singer Ozuna announced that he was launching his own brand of luxury champagne. The Puerto Rican’s new project is called Vocation, and it is a Blanc de Noirs, made exclusively with black grapes 60% Pinot Meunier and 40% Pinot Noir. The name of this champagne refers to his clear vocation when it comes to composing music and his passion for the process of making this sophisticated beverage.
Vocation is a champagne produced by Maison Haton, renowned in the French Champagne region. Ozuna has been very involved in the whole process of creation and elaboration of this new drink. He has even added a personal touch to the packaging by incorporating a glow-in-the-dark label.
It is currently available in places such as Puerto Rico,, St. Maarten and U.S. cities such as New York, New Jersey and Miami, although there are plans to expand to more U.S. cities and the Dominican Republic, among other regions, over the next year.
Speaking to Forbes magazine, the singer noted that he is “a wine lover in general, and after touring vineyards in Europe and really getting to know the process of making champagne in particular, I got hooked. This started as a hobby and a creative outlet and now represents something innovative. For me, champagne is a celebration. And I am celebrating this step of owning my own champagne brand and turning my passion into something much bigger.”
Ozuna joins other artists who have their own beverage brands such as Jay-Z or Pharrell, clear inspirations for the Puerto Rican. “Throughout my career I have worked with many incredible people who have become entrepreneurs. And I see (as a fan) what artists like Jay-Z or Pharrell do. They’re so inspiring, they’re out there creating brands from scratch, investing in themselves, creating wealth. I see them and they certainly inspire me!” he explained in Forbes.
A pairing by ‘vocation
This new Ozuna champagne, as reported on its website, pairs with a wide variety of dishes, from simple to more elaborate recipes. Dishes such as popcorn stand out. The salty touch of popcorn marries perfectly with the effervescence of Vocation to achieve the perfect delight, as explained on the website.
Other ideal companions to drink with Vocation are roast chicken, duck breast, crab patty, French fries and even a chocolate sponge cake, as the bubbles from the champagne enhance the creamy flavor of the cake.
