We recommend some restaurants in the capital where, in addition to enjoying a delicious meal, you can also enjoy other activities. Take note!

If you are looking to enjoy a different gastronomic evening that will surprise you, we have selected some places in Madrid that, in addition to a great culinary proposal, offer complementary activities or experiences that make them authentic great plans. If this summer you have to stay in the capital, take note and take this fun route of restaurants where you can go to eat and much more.

Arrogante

Arrogante is a project of SLVJ and, as such, we already know that its proposal will go far beyond the purely gastronomic. In this restaurant of classic Italian cuisine but with a touch of author, you will live an experience with all the senses. Its design, the work of the Il Mio Design studio, already reveals its markedly fun, casual and groundbreaking character. Planned as a vintage circus of mirror, velvet and bright colors, it has become one of the most Instagrammed scenarios of the capital.

In the evenings, they offer shows with accordionists, opera singers, magicians and characters inspired by the Divine Comedy who interact with the diners, so that they are not just mere spectators. The shows are directed by Álex G. Robles, in charge of the artistic part of the SLVJ group. So you know, if you want a dinner that really surprises you, you’ll have to be a little bit Arrogant. Besides, they will be open all summer long.

Bareto

At Tapas we love those plans to get together with friends to enjoy watching any sporting event, such as Wimblendon this week or the Women’s World Cup in a few days. And in Bareto we have found the perfect place to carry them out, both in its location in Alcalá street and in Atocha. The place has several lounges and each with their respective televisions to watch whatever you want.

In Bareto you can breathe that essence of a bar of all life -maybe also because its premises in Alcalá Street was once the legendary Cervecería Correos, meeting point of the writers of the Generation of 27-, but with a current and modern touch.

Whether you have to celebrate victory or settle for defeat, there is no dish at Bareto that will not leave a good taste in your mouth. It has classics such as the Flamenquines, the montado de chipirones a la andaluza, the patatas bravas, the gildas, the grilled cuttlefish or the torreznos. Without forgetting its sweet proposals, such as the delicious Arab cake. And all of this with a good beer or a glass of wine. When do we organize the next meeting? Any excuse will be good to visit Bareto.

En Bruto

En Bruto is a large gastronomic space that, in addition to a cafeteria with specialty coffees, has a workshop called Pam! where they make sourdough bread, pastries and artisan cakes. And it also has inside Fermakers, the first Kombuchería in Madrid that manufactures and sells its own organic kombucha called Brutt. And, especially in the mornings, En Bruto has a coworking section, where you can go to work while having breakfast or lunch.

And that’s not all, because En Bruto also offers cooking courses, gastronomic experiences and showcookings with renowned chefs, such as the one held a few weeks ago with the Peruvian chef Ricardo Martins, from the 7 restaurant in Peru. The attendees were able to prepare, together with the chef, Peruvian dishes such as fish Tiradito with ginger vinaigrette, silver and Korean Hote Bean or Mediterranean Sudado with prawns, monkfish, ali limo and chorizo. Each dish was paired with natural wines from Bodega Murga de Pisco, also Peruvian.

This weekend they close the season of Spanish cooking courses for foreigners, but in September they will resume the cooking courses led by chef Luca Simonin.

Autocine Madrid Fever

What if we take the car and go to a drive-in movie theater to watch a movie while enjoying a good American meal? You don’t have to go far because the Madrid Fever Drive-In offers that and much more. In addition to having an American-inspired restaurant where you can eat, they also have a diner car service, that is, you can place your order before and when you arrive at the drive-in, the team will take it to your car or hammock.

You can get your boots on with their Rita Burger, with grilled ground beef, cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce, lettuce and tomato; or the Penelope Cheese Burger, with cheddar cheese sauce, bacon and crispy onion. There is no movie theater without the typical hotdogs, onion rings or nachos with cheese. Right now they are showing the Santiago Segura movie, “Vacaciones” (Summer Vacation). And in a few weeks they will be showing the awaited Barbie. Shall we go?

Rolling Dance & Burger

Another American-style plan. Rolling Dance & Burger is a unique space in Madrid that has a completely renovated parquet skating rink. If you like skating, this will be a great plan. You have the option to go just one day (it costs 22 € and includes the rental of skates and an individual combo) or buy a voucher with up to 8 accesses.

In addition, its restaurant is right next to the runway and has a menu with a clear American inspiration: from starters such as chicken fingers, nachos, tequeños or onion rings, to hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches or the typical shake shakes. If you want a meal literally on wheels, you’re already late.

Alimentación Quiroga

Can you imagine entering a traditional grocery store and being able to taste and consume all the products they offer? This is possible in Alimentación Quiroga, a typical store located in the neighborhood of Las Letras, where you can enjoy a 360 gastronomic experience surrounded by exclusive and high quality products. You can do your shopping, have a glass of wine or enjoy the best tapas.

In this classic grocery store, which still has the same signage 60 years after its opening, you can order Iberian ham or cheese platters, assorted toasts, Madrid-style tripe, portions of smoked meats, mojama or salmorejo, while you relax with a good glass of wine (they also have quite a few references).

El Patio de Atocha

We could not finish this list without offering a refreshing plan. The Patio de Atocha, located inside the hotel CoolRooms Palacio de Atocha, has a quiet pool and, seasonally, they create vouchers and passes to spend the day or there are even telework vouchers. You can enjoy the common areas of the hotel and have breakfast or dinner in that fantastic courtyard full of vegetation (no need to be a guest).

As for the gastronomic proposal, chef Eduardo Gutiérrez prepares a fresh, versatile cuisine with a lot of personality that combines traditional recipes with flavors from all over the world, especially Latin America. You can order the nikkei torreznos with causa limeña, the Iberian cheeks with Pedro Ximénez mole or the txangurro salad with huancaína mayonnaise and black olive powder. They also have a cocktail menu for more casual moments, and on Sundays they organize one of the top brunches in Madrid.
