LOVERBOY now decorates pre-used ‘Jasperware‘ pieces with splashes of paint and artisanal drawing techniques that end up sculpting an exciting collection of limited edition works of art. The iconic Wedgwood pieces are thus reinterpreted under the vision and disruptive aesthetic of the British cult label to present a tableware with which to create surreal and creative tea parties.
Charles Jeffrey dresses with artistic experimentation this tableware developed from the upcycling technique in order to recycle and reflect the expressive energy of LOVERBOY in the jasperware pieces.
WEDGWOOD IN MILAN
This unexpected collaboration previously took the runway stage in the collection of decorative armor crafted from Jasperware pieces that Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY presented at Milan Fashion Week 2023.
A constellation of garments inspired by Josiah Wedgwood‘s legacy as a patron of the politically active arts, which became the prelude to the future LOVERBOY x Wedgwood capsule collection.
A KALEIDOSCOPIC WORK OF ART
Beyond that foray into the fashion world, collaborative tableware was presented after the fact: a teapot, teacup and saucer, sugar bowl, milk jug and plate in the classic Wedgwood light blue hue, over which abstract hand-glazed paint finishes are splashed. Traditional Wedgwood floral appliqués sprout from the base, but warped and spilled now over the paint and scribbles, further enhancing Jeffrey’s subversion.
“Collaborating with Wedgwood has been an incredible journey that has allowed us to fuse music, art and craft into a bold and transformative experience. Not only did we have the opportunity to reimagine Wedgwood’s iconic jasper dinnerware, but also to infuse it with our own distinctive creative voice,” expresses LOVERBOY’s creative director about this creative fusion that ushers in a new era for Wedgwood.
