Next April 23 is celebrated in Barcelona the day of Sant Jordi. Coinciding with the Book Day, the tradition in this city is to give a book and a rose. We want to add a plus to have the complete plan. Therefore, we have selected some of the best restaurants in Barcelona where you can eat to celebrate Sant Jordi in style. Which one do you choose?
Besta
Our brand new Golden T of Tapas Magazine in Barcelona could not miss a celebration like Sant Jordi. Surprising and unclassifiable, Besta is that place where the smallest detail rarely fails. A brief menu, based on the Galician cuisine of chef Manu Núñez and the Catalan cuisine of his partner, Carles Ramon. The restaurant offers a proposal mainly based on fish, always cooked with great care and with some surprising garnish. We can find from a permit accompanied by sea urchin on a corn toast, a scallop with Iberian juice or a grilled red mullet with beet juice and pickled carrot. If we fall madly in love with any dish, we are lost: the menu is so changeable that we will probably not find it on our second visit.

Located in the Borne district, behind the church of Santa Maria del Mar, Estimar restaurant is an intimate and somewhat hidden place, characterized by its love for the sea and its grilled cuisine and product. Run by chef Rafa Zafra, exBulli and current executive chef of Heart Ibiza, it serves a very basic cuisine but with an excellent innovative proposal, based on the purity and quality of seafood and fish. Estimar also has another restaurant in the center of Madrid.

Tragaluz
The Tragaluz group has almost twenty restaurants in the city of Barcelona alone. For this Sant Jordi, we have highlighted its namesake, Tragaluz, located between Paseo de Gracia and Rambla Catalunya, which has been offering modern Italian cuisine in a chic atmosphere in the heart of Barcelona for more than two decades. With several spaces and a decoration with lots of vegetation, here you can taste dishes such as Mezzi paccheri with turbot, dill and sea asparagus -as in the photo- or Bruschetta of steak tartar with watercress and pickles, among other delicacies. New project of the restaurant team Besta Barcelona (Marta Morales, Carles Ramon and Manuel Núñez) who have created Batea. This restaurant is a new concept of bistro seafood restaurant halfway between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, with quality products that pay tribute to the roots without falling into folklorisms. It is informal and simple, but not simple. Its aim is to offer a genuine experience for the palate.

Rafa Panatieri and Jorge Sastre are the two chefs at the helm of Brabo, one of the openings of the moment in Barcelona. This space aims to combine casual haute cuisine with a grill where the product is the backbone of the menu of 15 dishes. This restaurant of the Flash Flash group opened in 2020 in the district of Les Corts. It offers a market cuisine with very fresh produce and its menu has a wide variety of dishes. The space, designed by architect Iván Pomés, has a large living room with a glass façade and a large terrace. For this Sant Jordi, it can be an obligatory stop to regain strength after walking the streets of the city. In addition, for this special day they will serve a menu for 29 €, which includes grilled sea bass salvaja with bouillabaisse of letters or duck breast with apple millefeuille, among other options. Oaxaca Cuina Mexicana
This is the project launched by Joan Bagur in the heart of the Born district. It is a unique gateway to the most authentic Mexican cuisine. Here they have total respect for Mexican products and their original flavors, but providing an avant-garde and modern technique. You can taste from guacamole, tostas or chapulines, to a wide variety of tacos, aguachile or their black mole from Oaxaca.

Another obligatory stop in Barcelona with the seal of a reference, Rafa Zafra. This restaurant, located in the oldest five-star hotel in Barcelona, the Palace, offers a whole display of product that pays tribute to the sea. Rafa Panatieri and Jorge Sastre (from Brabo) also lead this state-of-the-art pizzeria project where they make their own sausages, cheeses and work their own vegetable garden. This was the first restaurant opened by the Nomo Group. Located next to the Jardinets de Gràcia, here they serve the best of Japanese cuisine in a cosmopolitan, modern and cozy atmosphere, which will transport you directly to Japan without leaving the center of Barcelona. Ikoya Izacaya
Ikoya is one of the Japanese options also offered by the Sagardi Group. It is a project of Hideki Matsuhisa together with Iñaki Lz. de Viñaspre. This restaurant is a meeting point between the sensational market product and the purity of Japanese technique. Entering here is like immersing yourself in a traditional Tokyo tavern and tasting a meticulous selection of sashimis, niguiris, ramens, hosomakis and uramakis, meat and fish dishes, and of course, robata. And all exceptionally paired with a selection of artisanal sakes. After a morning full of literature, the final stop has to be at Ikoya to stimulate all the senses through an unparalleled culinary experience.
