For foodies, the traditional London Sunday roast is not to be missed. It’s almost a ritual on a par with teatime, so it’s a must-do in the top kitchens. Forbes magazine has selected some of the best roast beef restaurants in London – not to be missed!

The Harwood Arms

It is the only pub in London with a Michelin star and, of course, its Sunday roast is spectacular. Undoubtedly one of the best in London. Made with British ingredients and seasonal game meats, with sirloin steak from grass-fed Belted Galloway cattle, Cumbrian pork, Sika deer shoulder wrapped in honeyed bacon or mustard-glazed Cornish monkfish. The menu is designed for two people and its presentation and creativity match its flavour and quality.

The Game Bird

The Game Bird, located in the Stafford Hotel in St James’s, is a sophisticated venue for an impressive Sunday roast of the highest standard. In an atmosphere full of art and luxury, here they serve their gastronomic proposal on a silver cart to carve the meat. The roast and cured meat is spectacular, as are the garnishes, including cabbage with black garlic.) After your meal, don’t forget to head to the courtyard for a drink in the hotel’s historic American Bar.

Sam’s Riverside

Its privileged location, facing the Thames in Hammersmith. This cosy and informal restaurant is also ideal for a modern British roast, and excellent value for money. The food is delicious – the meat is from the popular butcher HG Walters. It’s traditional, hearty and well balanced with the delicious gravy and buttery vegetables that accompany it. Not forgetting the starters of sustainable seafood, oysters and crustaceans on the menu, as well as signature appetizers such as churros with parmesan.

CUT at 45 Park Lane

This is one of the best roasts in London. Famous for its quality beef, including tender sirloin of beef served any way you like it, accompanied by fluffy truffle roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding with Wagyu sauce and a glass of Rathfinny sparkling wine.

The Lanesborough Grill

Very close to Hyde Park you will find this restaurant located in the Oetker Collection Hotel. It is a Grill that serves very refined food, in which the protagonist is the British product. On Sundays they serve great classics such as beef Wellington or Sutton Hoo chicken. But, without a doubt, the more traditional diners will go for the roast sirloin of Hereford beef with horseradish and apple cream.

It’s a stylish new hotel, Mayfair private club and restaurant. Its location already hints at the luxurious ambience you’ll find inside: a renovated Edwardian mansion. The culinary proposal has gained followers and reputation in a very short time, especially the traditional Sunday roast, where the highlights are the red Cornish chicken, the lamb from Mount Grace Farm or the Aberdeen Angus beef tenderloin. They recommend pairing it with a good Bloody Mary, which will be the perfect hangover cure.

Wiltons

Although closed on Sundays, this legendary 280-year-old restaurant has a carving trolley on other days of the week. For example, on Mondays they offer roast leg of Dorset lamb with potatoes and mint sauce; on Tuesdays they serve Blythburgh rack of pork; and on Wednesdays, their traditional sirloin steak with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. A Sunday classic, but for any day.
