The opinions and reviews that users write every time they visit a restaurant, hotel or any leisure plan are becoming increasingly relevant for businesses. They have become the word of mouth of the digital world and a benchmark when it comes to discovering new places. With this objective in mind, TripAdvisor produces its annual Travellers’ Choice rankings with the best of the best chosen by its users. And in the list of the 25 best restaurants in the world, there are two Spanish restaurants that you will have to visit if you haven’t already done so.
Spain was represented in a not inconsiderable 4th and 5th place. In fourth place was Martin Berasategui’s incombustible restaurant in Lasarte-Oria. It is the restaurant with the most Michelin stars in Spain, a total of three, which it has held for 20 years. It is a true gastronomic reference point and no one disputes its inclusion on this list. Among the excellent opinions it has received from users in recent months, TripAdvisor has highlighted some like this: “The best combinations of flavours I have ever tasted. The food was pure gastronomic poetry”. In addition to the à la carte menu, there is a Tasting Menu for €315, plus Wine Pairing for €175. A great culinary experience acclaimed the world over.
Closing the Top 5 best restaurants in the world we find another Spanish restaurant. This time it is the restaurant El Xato, in La Nucia (Alicante). Thanks to reviews like this one: “Fantastic food, very good wines and wonderful service. The presentation of the food was magnificent and very well cared for. Each dish presented the ingredients to perfection and every bite was delicious”, TripAdvisor users have elevated it to the Olympus of restaurants.
This family business has more than a century of history. What started in 1915 as a modest bodega became a tapas bar (Bar Chato, as in the featured photo). The 4th generation of the family turned it into the most prestigious restaurant in the Marina Baixa. They offer the Tentaciones Menu (78 €) and the Centenary Menu (95 €) where you can discover the roots of Mediterranean cuisine through the vision of chef Cristina Figueira.
The Top 3 is occupied by a British restaurant, a Brazilian restaurant and an Italian restaurant.
In terms of the 3 best restaurants in the world according to TripAdvisor users, we find, in first place, The Old Stamp House Restaurant in Ambleside (Reino Unido). It is a cosy restaurant that only serves 28 diners. Run by the Blackburn brothers, they offer a unique insight into the gastronomy and cultural heritage of the British region of Cumbria.
Second place in the ranking goes to Oro Restaurante, which since it opened in 2010 has established itself as a reference of innovation and revolution in the Brazilian gastronomic scene. The kitchen is run by chef Felipe Bronze, one of the most acclaimed chefs in the country. They offer 2 menus: the Creativity Menu, prepared daily with seasonal market ingredients; and the Affectivity Menu, with house specialities.
Closing the Top 3 is the Madonnina del Pescatore en la ciudad de Senigallia (Italia), un lugar donde la tradición abraza la experimentación y todo el equipo del restaurante, encabezado el chef Moreno Cedroni, ofrece una cocina exigente, poniendo dedicación y pasión a todo lo que hacen. La carta refleja a la perfección las tradiciones pasadas combinadas con la innovación de las tendencias futuras, sobre todo en los platos con pescado y marisco.
