Union of Unions of Farmers and Ranchers has returned to write, as every year, his traditional letter to the Magi in which they ask for “viability and profitability” for the field, with costs that can be transferred, fair prices and policies that have the primary sector, as reported in a statement.
Specifically, the agrarian organization, which has described 2022 as a “very hard” year due to the increase in production costs, largely due to the war in Ukraine, has asked the Kings to provide the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food “the courage and energy necessary to be able to order the situation and that farmers and ranchers do not pay for it”.
The organization has regretted that the international context is undermining the professional activity of the agricultural sector and has indicated that, although it is not in the hands of Minister Luis Planas to put an end to the war and its consequences, “he can implement better measures than those announced at the end of the year that really help to alleviate the serious crisis afflicting the countryside, especially in some sectors such as dairy”.
In this sense, he stated that the food chain continues to present “many imbalances” and that this fact can be reversed. “All that is needed is political will. The work of farmers and ranchers is very sacrificed, tired, but necessary because society has to feed,” said the organization, insisting that profitability is in the market and not in aid, calling for “fair rules of the game”.
In the same vein, has invited to be counted with farmers and ranchers when making decisions that affect them, both on issues of labor reforms as in purely agricultural issues because it will be more enriching. Thus, they have asked Melchior, Gaspar and Baltasar, appealing to the spirit of Christmas, to place the ballot boxes in the field.
