The boundaries between the real and virtual worlds are increasingly blurred, constantly altering our perception of reality in a hyper-digitized era in which advertising is also experimenting with the infinite possibilities offered by artificial intelligence.

The advertisers have thus configured a whole archive of surreal ads that explore the simulation generated by algorithms through these 6 culinary ads from fictitious or existing chains that are highly disconcerting.

BEANS ARE BACK

This strange ad, which seems to take us into Wes Anderson’s cinematic imagination, stars two characters who express their eternal love for beans and the “productivity” they generate, amidst digitized notes of humor and sarcasm.

PEPPERONI HUG SPOT

This clearly Pizza Hut-inspired spot captures the magic of pizza in a fictional restaurant called “Pepperoni Hug” in which the digital creator or AI explorer behind it generates an entire set design in which a cast of disfigured personalities happily eat pizzas while a chef prepares them in an unusual way.

“SYNTHETIC SUMMER”

The “Synthetic Summer” party is projected as a meeting we would all like to attend, until the moment when the bottles, faces and shapes start to deform and multiply. A disturbing meeting digitally created by Chris Boyle and Helen Powe, from the London-based production company Private Island, which deconstructs all the tropes of the typical beer commercial through a gloomy and disconcerting version.

HEINZ A.I KETCHUP

This Heinz ad takes us to the world of AI art generators such as Dall-e from a succession of words and artistic movements with which, beyond objects or other foods, a Heinz bottle is “hacked” from the word “KETCHUP”. One that will end up being transformed into works of art from different currents such as Renaissance or Impressionism.

PIZZA NUGGETS

Pizza Nuggets is presented as a commercial that evokes the snack ads of the early 90s. This fictional brand generates a whole surreal universe revolving around pizza, in which teenagers are given the chance to eat pizza and chicken nuggets at school. Yet, what seemed to be a dream quickly turns into a dystopia when giant monsters made of pizzas and nuggets appear, invading and destroying the city.

BURGER BLAST

“Burger Blast” is the TV commercial that takes us into a parallel reality altered by algorithms. In this simulation, which seems to have been constructed from plasteline, the caricatured “actors” disfigure themselves in slow motion while euphorically eating the brand’s hamburgers.
